How Does a Book Festival Work?
ENTRY: Entrance doors will be separate from exit doors, for security reasons. Doors to the NK High School Commons will open at 11am. If you bring a non-perishable food item for Fishline you will get VIP admission.

Upon entry, each kiddo will be given a passport that can be stamped throughout the visit and entered into a grand contest for bookstore gift cards. Our authors and illustrators will be seated at tables with their books waiting to meet readers. You can talk to the authors and if you want, buy a book and get it signed. There will also be activities, like bookmark-making at the Kitsap Regional Library's tent. Meet community organizations that focus on literacy.

For the littles, the High School Library will be a calm space where you can listen to stories and sing-a-long with Judy.

Draw Wars will take place throughout the event, with illustrators competing to draw characters based on audience suggestions.

What to Bring: Maybe a tote bag, for all those books you're gonna get. But don't worry, we'll have bags if you need one.

What NOT to Bring: Please do not bring more than two books from home. Why? Because it will make it very difficult for our small staff to keep track of. And it's unfair to other attendees if someone brings a dozen books to be signed, because signing lines for some of the authors can be long.
We ask that no food be brought inside (books don't like sticky fingers.)
And even though we love them, no dogs please.

EXIT: Exit doors will be separate from Entry doors and will be located behind the check-out tables. Please understand that we need to do this both for security and for inventory purposes.

NEURODIVERGENT KIDDOS: Click this link for a "social story" of what the day will be like.

MOST IMPORTANT INSTRUCTION: Have fun!
